Holiday Ensemble Concert
This year’s Holiday Ensemble concert is Saturday, December 21st, at 12:00 noon. Please join us for an afternoon of holiday fun in the PPG Place Wintergarden. As always, our goal is to get as many chapter members playing in the concert as we can!
If you are new to the chapter or have never played in a holiday concert before, here is how it works:
> Join the chapter if you have not done so already. The membership form is available here.
> Get the ensemble concert registration here and send it to Becky Yuille no later than November 15, 2013. The information you provide on this form is important. Among other things, it helps us determine the seating chart for the concert, and the arrival schedule at PPG. The deadline is November, but earlier is better!
> If you are a harp student, get the music from your teacher. If you are not a student you may still get it from Suzanne Hershey, Marissa Knaub, Lucy Scandrett, Julia Scott, or Gretchen Van Hoesen. Becky has a few extra copies she can distribute in a pinch.
> Practice the music! Please understand that you are not expected to play every piece on the program. The holidays are a very busy time for all of us. If you don’t have time to learn everything, just pick the pieces you like best and work on those. The object here is to have fun playing together, not to stress out over the music.
> Attend a rehearsal. There will be two rehearsals, one November 16th, and another December 14th. Both will take place in the atrium of the Westminster Place building at Presbyterian SeniorCare, 1215 Hulton Rd., Oakmont, PA 15139. We recommend coming to both, but you only have to attend one of them to be eligible to play in the concert. This means you must bring your harp and play in the rehearsal; simply showing up to watch does not count.
> There will be more information coming out later concerning the rehearsals, what to wear, what time to arrive, and where to park, so don’t worry. Just have fun with the music and get ready for the rehearsals – we got the music out early so there is plenty of time!
